Approach to Teaching

"My ambition to pursue a career in teaching began from an early age. I hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Open degree. Within my degree I have studied many mathematics educational modules which have inspired me to teach mathematics. I Have finished Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (QCF) last year.I tought two year in learning curve. As a trainee teacher,Now I been teaching level 1,level 2 functional skills and GCSE Maths in Wiltshire College as a quilified lecturer. In my teaching practice I have developed my interpersonal skill in teaching. The main thing that I will take from the learning curve is the huge improvement in my teaching practise and behaviour management skills. I learned how to tackle situations that were extremely difficult whilst still not losing my calm approach in the classroom, which I still feel is one of the biggest factors in allowing me to get the best out of my classes. I was working as a Teaching assistant in the mathematics department in a secondary school. I have worked as part of a team with many maths teachers within the UK and India where I taught as an unqualified teacher. This experience which held its ups and downs has motivated me to choose a career in teaching. I have assisted in a range of different subjects and have complemented a range of teaching strategies. I have gained an understanding of the school curriculum and enjoy assisting in its delivery. I have experience in planning and preparing for lessons and helping students to achieve their targets. I therefore feel as I have this experience and a broad knowledge in the maths curriculum I have been working as an English additional language (EAL) coordinator where I assist and support EAL students. I write up their action plain, arrange test, resources for them and mentor EAL students so they feel welcomed in school. I have also worked as a mentor. In my mentoring role I worked very closely with individual students, maintaining a good relationship as well as closely monitoring their progress. I also supported and guided my students with issues such as, absence, punctuality, poor behaviour, learning difficulties or needs of emotional support. I was involved in attending parents evening where discussions were held around the child's academic progress and targets. I also have been working with students who have learning difficulties, Asperger's syndrome, and autism, emotional and behavioural difficulties. This opportunity has been particularly rewarding enabling me to gain a broader perspective on experiences of working in secondary school. I am enthusiastic, energetic and committed to ensuring that students are given every opportunity to reach their full potential .I am motivated, reliable and hard working. My success to date has been achieved through my hard work and desire to succeed. I am multi lingual, speaking and writing in three languages and I am regarded as an attentive listener. I sincerely believe that my qualifications, experience and personal qualities are suited for this role. I feel that this role will give me a valuable experience to develop my own skills and confidence in teaching. I have been a home tutor since 2006, regularly teaching students per week. I offer individual private tuition in Mathematics Ks3, ks4. I am very passionate about maths and think that I would be an excellent tutor. I am a very polite and friendly person. I have 11 years` experience with Special Needs children who have moderate learning difficulties, Asperger's syndrome and autistic spectrum, emotional, behavioural and physical learning difficulties. I have attended several teacher training days which has help me to increase my knowledge on autism awareness, Dyslexia, I also attended Team teach, teacher to teacher, Intensive subject knowledge course for secondary mathematics. I am very patient and enjoy helping others to learn. My pupils have fun while they study and are always proud of their progress."
