Approach to Teaching

"I am in my final year of teacher training (BA Primary Education). I have completed two years already, achieving a 2:1 each year. Throughout the course, I have undertaken teaching placements to enhance my practice. I have taught year groups across the primary age range, including SATs year groups. I have also tutored pupils for SATs, 11+ and phonics screening tests. I have also taught in a special needs school. I am passionate about supporting children`s learning and I believe that it is important to take a personal approach to teaching. Thus, my teaching style is very creative and innovative, in order to suit the individual child. I like to use the child`s learning style and interests, to support their learning. I aim to set achievable, yet challenging, learning goals for children. I think it is important that children are aware of these targets, to understand the impact of their progress. As well as this, I have a wealth of experience in child development and child psychology. Prior to my teacher training, I worked as a teaching assistant for four years and achieved a National Diploma in Children`s Care, Learning and Development with an A grade (equivalent to three A`s at A-level). I am happy to travel to the child`s home if they feel more comfortable there. I also am happy to tutor from my own home in Canterbury. I can also work over the weekend in Croydon and surrounding areas."
