Approach to Teaching

"I can help you or your child with GCSE maths, KS3 (secondary) maths, KS2 (primary) maths and the QTS skills test. Covering Stockport, High Peak, Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Altrincham. I have been tutoring maths for over 10 years and have been a senior university lecturer, examiner and admissions tutor in mathematically based subjects for around 7 years. Here, I often taught students that struggled with their maths, and so over time, I developed effective techniques to help students to overcome their fear of maths. I enjoy helping pupils and can often show them alternative techniques and tips to help them achieve higher grades. I use easy to understand jargon-free language and have a relaxed and informal approach to tuition. This helps to create a no-pressure environment where pupils feel that they are not judged and are able to ask questions. I spend time to identify areas of weakness and to set realistic achievable goals. I also can help with note taking, revision techniques and exam strategies. I have many years experience of setting and marking exams and coursework assignments and so I know how examiners mark exam scripts. I look forward to meeting and helping all my prospective future pupils."
