Approach to Teaching

"As a teacher and a tutor, creating a sense of excitement about education is something I am passionate about. Enabling children to grasp the foundational knowledge and skills that they will use for the rest of their lives is a wonderful gift. Good education is, in my belief, the single most important thing we can impart to the younger generation. I am very motivated to equip young minds to learn more about the world they live in, enabling them to develop a knowledge and understanding of the natural world and an appreciation of the importance of literacy and numeracy to individuals and society. It is equally important to equip students with life skills and help them develop personal attributes such as curiosity, motivation, teamwork and effective communication through the incorporation of effective tutoring sessions. Through my teaching and tutoring placements, I have been able to teach, plan for and assess children in key stage 2, 3 and 4. I have experience with SEN, EAL and the gifted and talented. Being aware of a child's needs, abilities and aspiration is paramount in engaging, motivating and enthusing positive relationships. Therefore all my lessons are differentiated and tailored in order to ensure all students are engaged. I have been involved with pupil's Individual Educational Plans (IEP) motivating them to learn and individually structuring their learning according to their specific needs. I always make sure students are aware of the criteria that they need to achieve their targets so they know what is expected of them in order to achieve their very best. Regular formative assessments are part of my lessons so that students are aware of how well they performing and it identifies their strengths and weaknesses. I believe that my all round experiences and knowledge including excellent communication, organisational and team skills make me an excellent tutor."
