Approach to Teaching

"I have three Masters degree MSc Computer Science/ Maths, M.A in Education and MBA in Business Administration. I was involved in state education in U.K and have a wealth of experience of building, co-ordinating and liaising with colleges to ensure smooth running of apprenticeship programs. I am accredited with U.K teaching qualification (PGCE & M.A Education), which gives me the unique skills and knowledge to promote and oversee training requirements by analysing market needs, and propose training solutions according to the industries requirements. I raised students attainment in my Computing subject, which is demonstrated by the results of AS Computing which increased from value-added 6 to value-added 4 in the first year of delivery, and just last year to value-added 2. 55% of students secured A and B grades (Bench Mark 29% Nationally), and 87.5% achieved above their minimum target grade (MTG). I improved achievement rate in AS computing by 88%. The figures show the high standards I adhere to in classroom practise, incorporating new methods of teaching and learning, and inspiring students to achieve excellence. I designed learning and assessment strategies, and marking and feedback strategies that provided tailored feedback to students to improve on the key areas. I was also a BTEC IT (Software development) co-ordinator and was involved in the selection of all the units of the programme. I was responsible for formulating schemes of work, assessment calendars, resources and assignments, all according to the specifications. A system of Internal and External verification of assignments from the Examination Board was designed and implemented by me to maintain quality assurance. The course received positive reports from the external verifiers, identifying excellent strengths in the programme; a value added of 2 was achieved for the programme with 81% students achieving high grades.
