About GCSE Maths Exams
Modular and LinearThere are two types of exam:
- "Modular" means separate exams for each module which can be taken at different times. For example, some modules in year 10, the rest in year 11.
- "Linear" means that the exams are taken in one go - typically at the end of year 11.
Foundation and HigherThere are two levels of exam:
- Foundation. The highest grade is C.
- Higher. Any grade.
Exam boardsState schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland can choose from sevaral exam boards. You can obtain their maths past papers from here:
