I am a successful, qualified and experienced private tutor with experience of teaching both in local secondary schools and leading independent schools. I am passionate about tutoring and love to see the huge improvements that my students make. Over the past few years every single one of my students has exceeded the grade that they have been predicted by their teacher. I have ample experience tutoring all abilities. When tutoring the lower end of the ability range, I have honed a very efficient technique of starting each session with questions based on the last session to really consolidate the learning and finishing each session with a selection of exam questions on the topics covered to build confidence and focus on the exams . This consolidation has seen these pupils make enormous improvements. When tutoring top candidates including GCSE Additional Maths and A* pupils at GCSE and A level I am able to quickly determine where any gaps in the knowledge lie and by being familiar with hundreds of past exam questions can quickly target that misconception. I have accumulated masses of resources over my teaching career and am therefore able to tailor each session exactly to your requirements. I am very friendly and approachable and used to teaching all ages and abilities. I am very patient – I have lots of ways of explaining everything and rarely come across any misunderstanding that I haven`t come across before. I am very happy to be contacted outside of tutorial times by my students if they are stuck on any particular questions in their homework, I know how frustrating it can be to be going round and round and not have anyone available instantly to ask so just drop me a message and I`ll usually get back to you within the hour. I also have experience tutoring students for exams such as the QTS numerical skills test. I am well set up to provide online tutoring with a fast internet connection and plenty of digital resources. Please do get in touch to find out more about me and how I can help you.

Leading an active and healthy lifestyle keeps me motivated and energetic. Teaching allows me to share my enthusiasm and knowledge with my students and help harness and utilise their strengths. My journey in education started with a BSc Hons Degree in Sports Science, followed by a PGCE in middle years, specialising in PE. This has provided me with the opportunity to work both in the primary and secondary settings, and latterly with students who are unable to access mainstream school. Initially I opted to work in the secondary setting, teaching PE to children aged 11-16, both core and GCSE.. After three years, an opportunity arose to become a Schools Sports Coordinator. This involved co-teaching with primary school teachers, organising inter primary school fixtures and across partnership festivals. The children were aged from 7-11 with vast range of abilities. Following my success in this position, I became Assistant Partnership Development Manager for our family of schools. This allowed me to focus on developing PE in primary schools, rolling out regular inter-school tournaments and whole school festivals. I persued this until the birth of my first child. I took a break from teaching to become full time mother to my three children. Once my youngest child reached pre-school age, I returned to work on a part time basis covering a year 4 and a year 2 class. This led on to teaching French, PE and numeracy to children from years 3-6. I them moved on to cover a year 3/4 class, teaching the whole primary curriculum. My current position is working as a case work teacher, teaching students on a 1:1 basis. My students cannot access mainstream schooling and as a result I tailor make each lesson to their individual, needs, strengths and interests. Alongside this I privately tutor children from ages 7-14, focusing on maths and English. I am dedicated to encouraging a positive, focused approach to teaching and I am driven my interest in travel and the diversity of the world.

Testimonials

has provided us with these testimonials:
After various school placements, such as teaching classes at St Aidan`s (ranked amongst the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), for over five years I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as six through to mature students. Having experienced rigorous training, I am an Examiner for a major board and have relished the challenges of marking candidates` papers. I feel this gives me an invaluable perspective when preparing my students for their own tests. Both students and parents have offered positive feedback from the great improvement in their grade as a result of my tuition. For example, a student`s grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition. As a private tutor, I have taught one-to-one (and small group) lessons with a host of students, each with differing needs. I have enjoyed working with each individual to identify the specific areas of their subject(s) that they struggle with. Through my calm and patient approach, students` confidence in their abilities increases and their understanding deepens. I have enjoyed helping students through difficulties with their subjects while endeavouring to find and solve the problems students have in their understanding to give them a firmer grasp of the topic. I am familiar with the different examination boards, particularly AQA, Edexcel, OCR, CIE and ISEB. Covering Reasoning where desired, I have prepared students for 7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+ entrance examinations as well as the STEP and PAT tests required for the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. With my tuition, students have gained entrance to the schools of Aldenham, Fulham Prep, Harrogate Ladies, Sedbergh, Charterhouse and Latymer. After my tuition, candidates attained the necessary grades for their university offers, including from Oxbridge, to study courses relevant to our preparation. I also have experience aiding with IB and professional skills tests together with Pre-U and IGCSE.
From Jeremy, parent: Joshua has been providing tuition for one hour each week to my twin sons, Michael and Henry, on a continuous basis since January 2010. At that time they were 14 and in year 9 at Harrogate Grammar School. They are now 16 and in year 11, and are about to take their GCSE exams. Joshua has tutored them in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, alternating between them as the boys needs have required. The academic results both boys have consistently achieved at school have been very satisfactory in Maths and the three science subjects, namely A* and A grades. I am very grateful to Joshua for his significant contribution in helping them to achieve these excellent results. Both Michael and Henry have chosen Mathematics and Physics as A-level subjects for their two Sixth Form years 2012 to 2014, and consequently we look forward to having Joshua\s weekly tutorials to supplement and reinforce their school work for some time yet. Josh is a person the boys get on with easily, as he is still in his 20s and was himself a student at Harrogate Grammar School before going to York University to obtain his First in Physics. He is a very pleasant young man, punctilious about his arrival time, and consistently reliable. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending Josh as a private tutor to parents who want good academic results for their children.
From Nicholas, student: (A-Level Physics) Very knowledgeable, helped me understand some of the more difficult aspects of the course.
From Annabel, parent: (GCSE Chemistry) The best thing we could have done was to use Joshua as a tutor shortly before a chemistry exam. He has the ability to quickly find where problems are and sort them out. My son described his methods as eally good, high praise indeed from a teenager. Our very sincere thanks, wed have been stuck without you. 5/5
From Shaun, parent: (GCSE Combined Science) Joshua is a superb tutor and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Science does not come naturally to our son Conor, it is a struggle and he has to work hard at it. Joshua was immediately aware of this and his encouraging, supportive approach and ability to explain things in an easy to understand way has increased Conors confidence levels and provided motivation. Conor enjoys being taught by Joshua and feels at ease in in his presence. What seemed to Conor impossible before now, seems less daunting with Joshua\s expertise and careful guidance. 5/5

I hold a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of East Anglia and have collaborated with academics to develop the field while honing a range of skills such as academic writing and giving talks. I also have experience in community education, having worked as a part-time SEN teacher of Mathematics for a year where I taught GCSE and pre-GCSE material to young adults with learning difficulties. I have taught Mathematics to diverse communities in London, including predominantly Afro-Caribbean pupils in South and North London, Asian pupils in East London, and refugees in North London. I've also taught white working class and middle-class pupils in the East End and Surrey, respectively. My teaching experience includes Key Stage 3 and 4 at The Archbishop Michael Ramsey Technology College, a challenging school where I developed and improved my classroom management skills. I also taught at Coombe Girls' School in Surrey, a Beacon school where I focused on developing my teaching style and using skilful questioning in class discussions to elicit pupils' understanding. As a full-time teacher at The Royal Docks Community School in East London, I taught KS3 and KS4 Mathematics, designed exams, taught Foundation GCSE, and assessed coursework. I also offered pastoral and academic guidance to pupils and parents. At A-level, I taught pure maths, statistics, and mechanics at Crossways Academy and DLD College London. I encouraged able students to attend the Maths Club to stretch their thinking and prepare for various UKMT competitions. As a Year 13 Personal Tutor, I've honed my skills in writing first-rate UCAS references that show my tutees in the best possible light. I've also worked as an examiner for Key Stage 3 SATS, O-level and A-level for Cambridge International Examination board, and recently become an A-level examiner for Pearson Edexcel. I currently work as an online private tutor of maths.

He modelled methods thoroughly and took time to go over areas that I found difficult. He set homework which further supported our sessions. Written by Annette P: Vijay has been an incredible Maths tutor (A level) for my son and I would recommend him without hesitation. He is patient, thorough, great at explaining and thought provoking. My sons predicted A level grade went from a D to a B in 8 months. Hes just finished his exams so wont know final grade until August. Whatever the outcome, one of the most important changes for me was seeing the improved confidence in my son. He went from doubting himself to believing he could do really well. Outcome: Improved confidence. Predicted grade went from a D to a B. Final results still to be confirmed.
Written by John B: Vijay was a very good teacher for our daughter Yasmina who raised several grades for her Maths Edexcel (Higher) ensuring she was able to have a high enough pass at Maths to do her choice of A-Levels. Outcome: Raised her December mock grades in Maths Edexcel to a 5 (3 grades up) grades up ensuring she has a good pass.
Written by Jade E: Hi All Fellow Learners, I am a South African finishing my degree long distance from the UK. I was desperate for help with stats! As I had never done maths. Everything was new to me. Thank goodness I found Vijay. He was patient and calm. He explained everything in a simple way. He also prepared for our lessons, which saved loads of time. He made suggestions on which calculator to use and trained and taught me how to use it and apply everything I learnt in the exam. Most of all I appreciated him following up by text on how I was progressing, his messages before and after my exam were also appreciated. I fully recommend Vijay as he is a competent tutor who goes out of his way for his students. Statistics - I passed my module with a distinction, 78%! Best of luck to all!

Written by Anonymous P: Vijay is an excellent tutor. He turns up on time and is always prepared. He helped my daughter prepare for the 11+ and she was offered academic scholarships at all the schools to which she had applied. This would not have been possible without Vijay‘s help. Vijay is also now helping my son with further maths so his teaching skills are way beyond 11+ albeit he is able to relate to that stage very well. I have no hesitation in highly recommending him. I am a fully qualified teacher of mathematics. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from The University of Liverpool and I hold the PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) from The University of Huddersfield. I have very strong communication skills and I have the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly. Maths is not difficult, it is all about following a set of patterns and this is what I explain to students. I work in a sixth form college where I teach a number of maths courses ranging from GCSE to A2 level maths. My results are always excellent, with this year, 47.4% of my A2 students achieving a grade A - B and 100% achieved a pass. My GCSE resit students: over 50% of my class achieved higher than a grade C after just six weeks of intensive class preparation. For 2015, 9 out of 14 students achieved a grade C or a above at GCSE maths. I have the ability to help you overcome any issues that you have within Mathematics. Please note that I offer tuition online via Skype as well as one to one. If you have not had online tuition I can assure you that you will enjoy it. I offer a free trial (0.5 hour) and if you do not think that it is for you then that is fine. Also all other lessons come with a guarantee. In other words - if you do not believe that you have learnt anything then I will give you your money back. Finally....Maths is only difficult if you want it to be otherwise it can be the easiest subject in the world. It is important in a subject like maths to have a strong understanding of the basics and to attempt lots of questions. Obtaining tuition from myself will make maths more enjoyable, understandable, fun and your overall confidence will improve dramatically. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT AT THE MOMENT I AM ONLY OFFERING ONLINE TUITION VIA ZOOM***

Testimonials

has provided us with these testimonials:
Matt studied at the University of Keele for his Business Management and Marketing degree. He is an experienced Maths tutor and classroom teacher, with a thorough understanding of both the subject and the syllabus, but also the different needs and challenges across a full class range of pupils, including the most able. When taking on a new student he seeks to establish their understanding of underlying maths concepts, as well as their current achievement level. Matt prepares thoroughly for each session, is a diligent teacher with the ability to relate and communicate with students at their level. He exudes enthusiasm and takes a simple joy in working with students and seeing them succeed. Students invariably enjoy his tutoring sessions and look forward to them. Educated at a top UK public boarding school, he is a confident and patient mentor with a passion for numbers and a gift for inspiring and motivating children, including those with learning and relationship difficulties. His tutoring and teaching work spans over ten years, from 5 year olds to graduates. His experience includes in-school extra-curricular tutoring, home schooling, classroom teaching (ages 7-13), and online tutoring. He currently provides free tutoring to disadvantaged children through a London charity, and has been an SEN school assistant who has worked with all ends of the ability spectrum. He enjoys tutoring. Outside work Matt enjoys living in Chelsea and getting involved in the community. He is a fan of live music concerts and sports, and is a season ticket holder at Chelsea FC.
Case Study and Testimonial From a mother: " My son Toby is an active and fun loving 11 year old who struggles with concentration and who, at times, can be disruptive in class. Toby hates maths - or used to -and I thought he had the same "math phobia" as me. My mind goes went blank when Im faced with a spreadsheet of numbers. I had tried two home tutors, both retired maths teachers, both without success. In our first session Matt recognised Toby was a bright boy, but suspected he had never acquired the basic number skills to progress in maths. Matt started out talking about what a number line was, which Toby had never been taught, and how the ancient Egyptians (a subject Toby was fascinated in after visiting the Tutankhamen exhibition) used it for designing the pyramids. Suddenly, Toby was interested in maths! Matt finished the first lesson by playing a short game of darts, and that became how he finished each lesson. Each time he would give Toby a number, and ask him what three numbers did he have to throw to win with three darts. After 2 months Toby had super mental arithmetic skills, and his work in maths in school had improved significantly. I still invite Matt to Tobys birthday party, though we no longer require his maths tuition. I believe Matts success with kids is that he knows how to relate to them on their level, and he makes the tutoring lessons fun. I will always be grateful to Matt, not only for helping Toby, but that in the process he helped me overcome my own number phobia!”
I first used Matt to tutor my daughter Lucy in preparation for sitting the 11+ exam prior to her entry to Francis Holland school in London. Lucy gets nervous in exam situations. Matt was great in improving Lucys confidence to the point she was actually looking forward to the exam, which Im pleased to say she passed. I now use Matt with my 8 year old boy, as well as for occasional booster sessions with Lucy. Matt is invariably smiling, is very thorough and professional, is arrives on time and well prepared, which is a refreshing change from previous tutors i have tried. I highly recommend him.

I`m a very experienced and fully qualified maths teacher who specialises in confidence-boosting for all abilities. I`ve taught in schools and colleges for the last 7-8 years. My students are frequently in their final year or two of GCSE preparation but I also work with students from 11 years of age upwards (including adults) and focus mostly on GCSE (and Functional Skills). I enjoy working both with students who struggle with maths, and with high achievers alike and have plenty of experience with dyslexia and dyscalculia. I like a bit of a laugh too and I have lots of tea and biscuits for those have their lesson at my house. :-) As my students approach their final exams, practice becomes more and more focussed on exam papers. This is great practice, gives reassuring familiarity when the real exam comes, helps develop exam techniques, and brings to light any remaining gaps that need filling. For those who do not have imminent exams, I give some homework after each lesson and suggest that half is done within a day of the lesson (to ensure practice is carried out before the memory of the lesson fades), and the other half to be done a few days later to ensure that the methods are properly instilled. My rates are GBP25 per hour, with discounts for more than one hour (eg. GBP40 for 2 hours, etc), or more than one person (eg. GBP40 for two people for one hour, etc). I live in Old Trafford. Students can come to me, or I will come to them. If this requires me to travel more than 5 miles, I charge an extra GBP5 to cover the extra time this involves.

Hello! My name is Adam and I am an ambitious, professional and creative maths teacher. I have much experience in private online maths tuition and working as a A-level Maths Lecturer and Secondary School Maths Teacher allowed me to understand how the individual approach during one-to-one sessions can boost your confidence and subject knowledge. I have worked as a private maths tutor via various tutoring agencies for a couple of years, successfully helping students with KS3, KS4 and A-level maths. I would also like to add that I hold a master degree in mathematics, qualified teacher status for England and an up-to-date DBS certificate, therefore I would be competent to assess your maths knowledge and help you with those topics you are struggling with the most. Finally, I am a very friendly, hard-working, honest person and my life motto is: "You only fail when you stop trying". My tutoring style is a calm and structured approach to mathematics to allow you to gain confidence in those topics you currently find difficult. I am very patient and approachable and I enjoy using new technologies during my work, because I believe that it will help you to conquer maths more effectively and make your learning process easy and fun. I can offer a free 15-minute online demo session, so that you can find out if affordable online maths tuition suits your needs. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!
Adam is a helpful teacher and helps me understand the complicated side of things. Lessons were very highly productive and I felt that my teacher was teaching me well and explaining to me complicated aspects of questions in easy way. Thank you for the help! Sunaina

I graduated from Imperial College in Mathematics and stayed on to carry out research in Applied Mathematics to Diploma Level. I have always had a keen interest and enthusiasm for the subject. I have had a very varied career and have worked as a technical computer programmer as well as in Maths teaching in this country and abroad. I have taught Mathematics in schools and FE colleges in the UK and in the United Arab Emirates up to GCSE and A Level. I also tutored students both in this country and in Dubai with great success. In fact, I was selected by my Dubai school to teach the children of their Royal Family. This consistently resulted in excellent results for my students. I offer both 'in person' lessons at my home in Corhampton as well as online tuition using Skype (students and their parents have been really pleased with this arrangement and found it very convenient logistically). I thoroughly enjoy private tuition and tailor each lesson to suit the requirements of the individual student. I find it best if the student brings me their difficulties / problem topics to be worked on. I can also pinpoint areas where help is needed by working through questions I select with the student. In addition I find that going through corrections of their recent test/exam scripts is a good diagnostic tool. I have often been told that I give extremely clear explanations and that I have great reserves of patience.

With the latest teaching techniques and confidence building I have been helping students to achieve best possible results in their GCSE and A Level Mathematics examinations. Tutoring sessions are tailored to individual needs at a pace and manner suitable resulting in significant progress and achievement of target grades. In a friendly but focused manner I am able to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses in student ability and with this mind I set out to explain concepts for deeper understanding with practice examples and past papers thus allowing student to gain confidence and increase knowledge of Mathematics with constant practice. All of my students from the following Schools, Colleges and Universities have achieved and exceeded their expectations: All Saints, Egglesciffe, Conyers, Nunthorpe, Outwood, Northfield, Teesside High School, Yarm School, Prior Pursglove College, Teesside University and Open University. Recent reviews include: "Excellent tutor who helped my son exceed 2 grades higher at GCSE higher maths than expected! Would definitely recommend." "I was close to deferring my Engineering Mathematics Degree module but finally decided to get help which was provided by Mohammed and this has instilled the belief in me that I can do it. He had exceeded my expectations and will definitely continue to use him. Highly recommended."

I am currently employed as an Online Maths GCSE Tutor Monday to Friday. I also tutor privately in GCSE and A-Level Maths and even engineering students at degree level requiring help in Differential Equations, Laplace Transforms, Eigenvalues, Eigenvectors, Fourier Series and Matrices and Linear Algebra. I am friendly, accommodating and most of my lessons go over an hour for a fixed price (in general it is cheaper if you come to me, but the rates on here are for me to come to your house - normally GBP35 per hour for me to go to your house (within a maximum 3 mile radius from my house), of which GBP5 will be given to Mathstutor4me so I only earn GBP30 net). I also have a BSc, MSc in Mathematics and a PhD in Computer Science as well as a qualified Maths/Physics teacher. I can also teach some Physics GCSE and I know some Chemistry GCSE. I can help out in the maths side of things in Physics A-Level. In the past I have mainly worked as a software engineer in industry sometimes using mathematics and mathematical modelling in the real world of work. I have been a private tutor since 1999 and have helped students pass exams from GCSE up to 1st year degree level in subjects such as mathematics, physics, engineering and C programming. I have helped teach pupils in Saturday schools for CIVITAS in Bradford and London.

I am a fully qualified mathematics teacher and experienced tutor, having working in both the state and private sectors and currently teaching at a nearby secondary school. I have a non-judgemental approach, that is centred around building the student's confidence and self-esteem and reducing a fear of failure. Additionally, I promote a culture of hard-work, grit and internal motivation needed to make maximum progress in maths. I initially identify understanding of 16 of the key mathematic ideas needed to succeed at GCSE and then develop a tailored programme from there. I like to use cutting edge teaching strategies from leading practitioners in the teaching industry, and particularly place a large emphasis on retrieval practice and spacing. These help students to not just learn but, importantly, REMEMBER more in the longer term. My online tuition sessions are interactive, adaptive and engaging. Online tuition allows me to instantly access the most appropriate resources from my diverse educational library to deliver consistently impactful lessons. Photos of all work are emailed instantly within minutes of the end of each session for pupils to have for revision and retrieval purposes. I am also trained in stress-management, and so can offer techniques to help sooth exam nerves and anxiety.

I am a committed, enthusiastic and friendly tutor/mentor with 30 years of teaching experience and up to date knowledge of teaching methods. Since graduating from the University or Reading in 1992, I have taught in a variety of Norfolk & Suffolk schools - both primary and secondary (including an American school here in the U.K.). I have a proven track record of improving pupil achievement in maths and am able to offer tailor-made tuition to meet individual pupil needs - whether the student is struggling to keep up at school, developing confidence or preparing for exams. I have a great deal of experience in supporting students with dyscalculia. I am committed to professional development and participate in relevant courses to enhance my own teaching, as well as regularly networking with committed tutors in Norfolk and Suffolk in addition to the rest of the UK. I run a small but growing tuition business, Discovery Tutors, and now have a team of tutors working alongside me, who cover other subject areas, all of whom receive regular training, hold enhanced DBS checks and have undergone child protection training. We offer in-person tuition at Palgrave Community Centre on Thursdays, as well as online tuition. We have been successfully tutoring online since 2014.
"I just thought Id drop you a line to say that at the beginning of this school year (8) C was moved up to set 2 & at parents evening. In October I was told she was doing better than some students who were already in set 2. We got a report yesterday and her target grade for the end of this school year is 5b & she is currently a 5a ! This is all down to you giving her the confidence back with numbers & her self-belief that had been ignored at primary. Cant recommend or thank you enough." LL, March 2015
"Enormous thanks for boosting Ss confidence and skill so quickly. He was able to take this last week (SATs) in his stride, with a smile on his face and complete faith in his ability to do a good job. Hes very happy and so am I!" RC, May 2016
Diane helped my ten year old Dyslexic son with prep on entrance exams. He really enjoyed working with her, and never complained about going. She systematically went through different areas with him, and identified areas of weakness. The tutoring worked really well, and I would highly recommend her. SD January 2017
"I couldnt recommend Di more highly. When my daughter first met Di, her words to her new tutor were, "Im rubbish at maths";she had no self confidence whatsoever, which was a major concern for both her and ourselves. She was in the first "Guinea Pig" year of the updated SATs, with little time to adjust.I was so shocked that my daughter didnt know really basic things and they had methods of solving problems that left me cold. Not what I was used to. Today, after spending time with Di, my daughter is confident, passed her SATs with flying colours and has adjusted to High School maths remarkably. I think she may even enjoy it! Di covers both Key Stage 2 and at least up to GCSE. She can do both face to face and online and is fantastic with unconfident children. What a Superstar with a capital S. " JW February 2017
"I am so pleased that I was able to achieve A* in my maths GCSE (legacy paper) after only a year of study. Im so glad I put in the extra work. I couldnt have done it without your help"! JG August 2017

My lessons are focussed but relaxed and informal. I ask my students what they want help with. If they`re not sure where to start, then I`ll lead them through some questions so that I can see what help they need. My patience and my careful listening are as important as my understanding of maths. As I have been a full time one-to-one maths tutor since 2009, I help students to achieve their potential - whether they are struggling, gifted or just need a boost. For students of all ages and abilities, I improve confidence and grades. I target students` personal learning gaps, reinforcing work done in school. I am patient, friendly and communicative. I work with students to develop a plan individually tailored to their needs and demonstrate each topic, step by step. I have used maths in the 'real' world not just in education. My ten years training and teaching in profit and non-profit organisations means that I communicate concisely and articulately. I have tutored over 3000 hours of GCSE, A Level and numeracy tests such as QTS. I love to help students conquer their fear of maths.

I have been tutoring physics off and on for many years, in fact it was my first paid employment in the early 70s when I was still at school! I considered a teaching career but instead entered the telecommunications industry where I held roles which ranged from technical development through to corporate strategy. During my career I have also been a visiting lecturer to both Aston University and Coventry University. My hobby is aviation and I also work as a flying instructor. This means that I am well used to providing one-to-one teaching to students with a range of abilities, furthermore I have been trained to teach in a difficult environment - an aircraft. I only tutor physics so I understand the issues that students can have with this subject. As a result I am familiar with the different specifications and have built up a large library of teaching material and worksheets. Wherever possible I try to use the experiences that I have gained during my career to provide real life examples and case studies and most importantly to demonstrate that physics is fun!
"I have managed to get into Bath University with at least AAA. Thank you very much for your help."
“Hey Alistair, just to let you know that I got into my first choice uni (University of Hertfordshire) to study aerospace engineering! Thank you for all your help!”
“Hi Alistair many thanks for helping Tom out. He really enjoyed it and you gave him confidence in other ways as well. Thanks again for a job well done.”

Need help with maths? Children need a solid and supported period of consolidation, and in some cases one-to-one tuition to succeed. Do you want to give your child the best chance of success? Whether it is developing their ability or bolstering their confidence - or both - you will be keen to ensure that they are well prepared for the coming times, even though the exams seem far away... The consequences of not being prepared can be significant and can reduce the development of their potential for the rest of their schooling. The 11+ exam is essential to ensure that a life-changing Grammar School selection is successful. But just as important is having the academic confidence to start Year 7. I am an enthusiastic teacher of primary and secondary school mathematics to KS4. I have a real passion in ensuring that pupils succeed and be at their best. I can help. Get in touch - I can guide your child, and you, to get there in good shape.
I have known Gary for over 50 years as a friend and believe and know that he is more than capable of delivering excellent tuition for both children and adults. I have always found him to be honest, reliable, professional and trustworthy and have no reservation whatsoever in recommending as a tutor.
I have known Gary for several years as a client to both of my children and I would highly recommend him. I have found him professional, trustworthy, punctual and reliable at all times. He gave my boys the confidence through patience to understand maths, for this I am very grateful.
I have known Gary since he was a teenager, for about 40 years. He has been a good and loyal friend, and I think he is very capable of delivering Maths Tuition to both young and older students. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a tutor, and have always found him focused and professional, and very keen to do a good job.

I have known Gary for about ten years now and can honestly say we have become good friends. When my children became of an age when they were at primary school and approaching their 11+ Gary offered to help prepare them; they both gained entrance to Grammar School. Equally, on approaching GCSE exams they both benefitted from his additional assistance to gain grades above they were predicted to attain. He is totally honest, trustworthy, reliable and professional, key attributes I believe which are essential to private tuition. He is an excellent communicator who inspires and develops individuals to reach and exceed their goals and aspirations. I have no hesitation in recommending Gary.

I have been teaching Maths for 10+ years and I am a Maths tutor preparing GCSE students for their exams and class studies. I am also teaching KS2 and KS3 Maths to primary and secondary school students who may have difficulties in particular topics or in their exam preparations. I originally graduated from my university as an oil and gas engineer, but eventually shifted my career towards teaching more than 12 years ago. I feel proud when a student achieves success and becomes more confident in their exams. I am currently tutoring Maths to KS2, KS3 and KS4 students as online and in their homes. I teach my lessons as one-to-one and group sessions. In my lessons, I always use different teaching methods such as presentations, videos, worksheets, and also educational games. In our lessons, I always adapt our methods according to the academic performance and needs of the student. I will be glad to help students who need any help for Maths.

Dear Parent, re: my Maths and Physics online tuition: I have been a secondary school teacher, private tutor of Maths and Head of Physics for 25+ years. In that time I have taught students of all abilities, helping students with moderate learning difficulties as well as those aiming to achieve grades A in GCSE or grade A at A - Level. All of my advanced students have gone to University and some have gone on to medical school and successful Oxford or Cambridge entrance. My experience as an examiner has enabled me to guide my students more effectively in preparation for GCSE and A - Level exams. Over the last 10 years I have developed strategies, including Zoom, to carry out tuition online, so that I can share my knowledge and enthusiasm with a wider range of students who would benefit from my help. If you want a preliminary meeting (30 minutes, no obligation, GBP30, refundable) send me a message. Thanks.
Michael has tutored my son for his GCSE and AS level Physics. My son achieved a top grade A in his Physics AS level. My son said his teaching is excellent. Michael clearly has a passion for Physics and my son told me how this made his lessons very interesting and motivating. He built my sons confidence and gave him all the necessary Physics exam skills as well as a very strong subject knowledge. Michaels commitment is outstanding. He is very reliable and gives regular and thorough feedback to parents. My friends daughter had Michael as a tutor when retaking her Physics and moved from a D to a B with his support. Michael has excellent subject knowledge and his years of experience have benefitted my son greatly. I have always found Michael to be professional, courteous and supportive.

I am a fully qualified mathematics teacher with more than 30 years of experience teaching in a local secondary school with an enhanced DBS check. I offer tuition to students of a wide range of ages and all abilities for a range of courses & exams, including KS2, KS3, GCSE, entrance exams, BTEC, numeracy tests and Algebra awards. Many of my students come from recommendations from current and ex-students. All lessons are tailored to the needs of the student. I set (optional) homework at the end of the lesson so that students can consolidate on the learning that has taken place during the lesson. The following lesson I check the homework has been completed successfully and go over any questions that the student found difficult. Near exam time, the lessons are focussed on exam techniques and practice papers. The lessons take place online via Zoom.
Really pleased my son is learning so much - Kelly
Do you believe that I am capable of providing quality tuition? Absolutely yes, you tutored my son (Krishan) leading up to his GCSE’s and he came out with a Grade 8 for Mathematics. There is no better proof than that, Bhavesh.
Ajay is a proven tutor who will provide a top class friendly service from the comfort of his home to his students. A quiet environment for the students to learn without any distraction - Sanjay.
My daughter never liked math and math was difficult for her in general. She does not have analytical thinking at all. We tried few tutors before but did not have great results. And now, less than a year, my daughter got 20 out of 20 for her math test at school (never happened before!). She loves her math lessons and told me (secretly) that she had the best tutor ever and she understands and likes math! I am very much surprised myself as never thought that would be possible. I would describe myself as a calm, patient person who is passionate about helping students who struggle with maths. I am a fully qualified maths teacher and over the past 5 years I have tutored numerous people. I enjoy bringing maths to life for those who find maths difficult. I enjoy working with students who are in primary school and I have enjoyed preparing them for secondary as often this is when a number students struggle. I have tutored students who have had to resit their GCSE's and those who have always found maths to be a challenge. I don't have one set method of tutoring as I tend to base the sessions on the students individual needs. I am also welcome to feedback as in the past this has helped me to find different ways to ensure that information is retained.

22839925 out of 5 He tutored me in mathematics starting from basics as I prepared for my QTS numeracy skills test. At times we used the government skills test website during revision or he just timed me using a stopwatch to answer the questions given under the 18 seconds time frame. He his very patient and knowledgeable, he encouraged me to book for the test when I was ready. I found MathsTutors4Me whilst searching on google for a maths tutor and I am glad I did.
22954305 out of 5Martin is patient, hardworking, polite and an excellent teacher. He got me through the Numeracy Skills Test and during my time working with him, he always went the extra mile for me as his student. I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone seeking a talented and dedicated maths tutor.

I tutored students in Maths and the Sciences at A levels and GCSE level. with results especially in the case of a student that I taught maths, physics and chemistry who got wonderful grades in all these subjects; 2 students of mine who are teachers, passed the Professional Skills Numeracy Test(For Teachers),for which I tutored them. Another student of mine whom I taught Maths at A levels, core 1,2,3 and 4, gained admission to university to study Maths. My Experience as an engineer made it easy to teach the real life uses and meaning behind the maths and science principles. I was recently awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Physics with Maths education, from University College London's faculty of the Institute Of Education (IOE).

Mother of a CEO of a British company said Ed has been tutoring my son aged 11yr old for over a year on a weekly basis. My son has always looked forward and enjoyed his time each week with Ed and as a result of this positive relationship and rapport that he has instantly developed with, my son has enhanced his enthusiasm for learning Maths and in doing so have seen him move forward hugely in his ability to handle very complex Maths for his age.
Mother of an A-level Maths students aid I am so very pleased with the progress Kate is making with you. She has a bad teacher this year and needs the help. Thanks for your flexibility. With 3 kids in different schools and I work full time and travel it is all a bit complex.

I hold a BSc (with Honours) and MSc in Maths. I also hold a PGCE(M) in Education and i am a qualified Maths teacher. I have been doing and enjoying home tuition for over 5 years now and i am also a Part -time Maths Teacher in School and college. I have helped countless learners build their confidence and enhance their knowledge in Maths and Science. My approach is to go through each topic the learners have done in class(initial assessment ) and that will enable me to quickly identify their strengths and areas of improvement, afterwards we will focus on past exams papers which will become a formality after the learner has grasped all the chapters they have covered with me. Hope to hear from you soon.

An experienced Mathematics and Science Tutor with a comprehensive background in teaching a diverse range of pupils. I have worked as a freelance tutor since 1996 teaching students from age 9 to adult. I also worked in a private secondary school as head of mathematics for 4 years. I currently assist in the running of examinations at an academy and am thoroughly familiar with all the syllabuses currently in use. I am passionate about education and feel that everyone can succeed if given the right learning guidance and environment. In my spare time I enjoy walking and gardening and visiting garden centres. I also have a keen interest in the Latin and Greek languages and am currently learning Russian.

I am a Maths Tutor living in Brixham, Devon. I have taught mathematics in secondary schools since 2005 and privately since 2007. I now focus entirely on private tuition at all school levels. So these are lower school (Key Stage 3), GCSE Foundation and GCSE Higher level Tutoring Approach: My students enjoy my informal style of teaching and really get a big boost in confidence from their lessons with me, particularly if they are preparing for examinations. Examination technique and practice is a key area of focus. The feedback I get from my students (and their parents) is that they enjoy and look forward to their maths lessons and gain confidence in the subject.
From Stephen (5/5): (GCSE Maths) A great first impression, very friendly and approachable. My son leaves lessons smiling and says that he learns more in an hour with Martin than he learns in a month at school! First rate and highly recommended . From Sandra (5/5): (GCSE Maths) Martin tutored my daughter prior to her GCSE Maths exam. He came to our house every week, being punctual, friendly, and quick to build my daughters confidence in this subject. I am confident that she reached her full potential with his help and would not hesitate to recommend him. Thank you Martin.
From Lisa 5/5 My son had always struggled with mathematics from primary school, so when GCSES were on the horizon. I needed help, and Martin was fantastic, he explained everything and my son started to actually understand and enjoy maths. I just wished I had used him earlier.
From Leigh 5/5 Martin was a fantastic tutor for my daughter when she was struggling with confidence in maths. He worked at her pace and took the time to explain the questions in a way she could understand. Would recommend Martin as a tutor and would use him again if needed.
From Sally 5/5 Both my children had Martin Ely as a maths tutor. They really engaged with Martin, he explained the problems they had with questions easily and made Maths lessons fun. We would definitely use Martin again should we need to in the future.
From Rebecca 5/5 Martin was very professional and explained everything thoroughly. Within a few months Martin improved my daughters GCSE maths grade. I would highly recommend Martin as tutor.
From Michaelle 5/5 I found that Martin tailored the lessons to suit my daughters requirements, paying special attention to any weak points, through this she gained confidence and ultimately achieved her target grade.

I aim to give children as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and prepare them for future life. My views on learning styles have been influenced by the work of Howard Gardner. Gardener believes that we have multiple intelligences and that every child has the potential to be gifted, but that this can present itself in many different ways. Therefore, all children have their own preferred learning style, which best suits their intelligence. As a teaching assistant, I feel I can best meet children’s learning needs if I am aware of the learning style suits them.

My name is Katy and I am a Warwick Maths Graduate (and Oxbridge reject, so I do also have experience of the dreaded STEP exams!) My topic of choice would be algebra, however I enjoy (most!) aspects of Mathematics, whether it be pre-GCSE, GCSE or A Level. I would be happy to help with degree level Mathematics too, depending on the module. I am currently a stay at home Mum, so am fairly flexible with hours but ultimately I'm looking to make Maths Tutoring my main source of income. Having obtained an A at A Level Biology, I'd also be willing and happy to offer pre-degree level tutoring of Biology as well.

I am a qualified maths teacher, and have been teaching maths in a secondary school since 2010. Until recently, I worked in a maths department which achieved excellent progress with regard to its GCSE Maths results. In school I mainly worked with year 11 GCSE maths students, although I have also taught Key Stage 3 and 4 classes so my knowledge of the curriculum is excellent. However, from 1st September 2018 I have decided to undertake home tutoring on a full-time basis. I have been doing private tuition for eight years and always strive to do the best for my students.

I joined MathsTutors4Me in 2012, and for the 11 years I have been preparing students for their KS2 and 11+ Maths exams. I help students to improve their understanding of all required maths topics, close any gaps in knowledge and secure the best marks in their exams. I am very patient and always make sure that students understand each topic, track their progress and ensure we are on track. I have a kind but strict approach - we`re here to get the results! I have also successfully prepared many students for their 11+ exams, in particular for Kent, Bexley and Medway.

Testimonials

has provided us with these testimonials:
I have tutored for over ten years, and helped students to improve their grades in GCSEs, A-Levels, IB and other courses. I held over 2,000 tutorials in the past two years alone. Students benefit from my deep experience of working in academia and industry: I hold a PhD in Biological Physics and a first-class Masters in Physics, both from the University of Oxford. My tutorials combine the rigour of the Oxford tutorial system with a sensitive approach, so that students learn quickly and intuitively. Feedback from my students has been unanimously positive.
Gabriel is currently tutoring my son in maths, physics and chemistry and we are very happy to have found him! He is reliable, professional and enthusiastic. His teaching methods are exceptional and he keeps checking that my son has a full understanding of the material covered which is exactly what one looks for in a tutor.
My Son had his first lesson for help with A Level Maths. First impressions are excellent. He arrived on time, patient and professional. My Son has found his first lesson beneficial and booked more for the future.
What a pleasure to have Gabriel tutoring my son, he is very punctual and also flexible if needed. My son finds him easy to get on with and enjoys learning Physics under his instruction, very happy all round.
Gabriel helped me a lot with my undergraduate Artificial Intelligence course. He was very patient and explained things in a lot of depth, also very reliable. I recommend.
Extremely patient and very knowledgeable. Knew multiple ways to tackle the problem and made it very simple for me to understand. I highly recommend him.
I attended Gabriels home office for a physics tutorial session which as a subject I found very difficult to get my head around. Gabriel put me at ease and broke each individual calculation up taking me through the parts I was struggling with, step by step. He made sure I was happy with any aspects of the physics calculations I was struggling with before I left the session. I found the way in which Gabriel tutored me by explaining, setting questions and pushing me, I was able to gather a clear understanding of the subject. I would highly recommend Gabriel as a tutor.

I am a qualified maths teacher who now tutors full time after working 10 years in a Secondary school in Norfolk. I teach KS3 and GCSE at both higher and foundation level, with experience in AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards as well as IGCSE. My time teaching in schools has also given me exposure to teaching both the entry level and functional skills level qualifications in Maths as well. I also have experience teaching Statistics at GCSE. I prefer to deliver lessons online but will travel up to 5 miles from my home address.
Jane has helped my daughter get to grips with her maths curriculum. She has more maths confidence than ever before and really enjoys the sessions. I’d recommend Jane to anyone who is struggling with maths or who simply needs a bit more guidance.
Thank you for being an amazing teacher and for your great lesson. You gave my son the knowledge he needs to pass the Maths test. I will recommend your service to my friends and if my son needs more help we will come in touch
My daughter was struggling with her GCSE Maths and found certain course elements hard to understand. Jane helped her enormously over a few weeks by being able to focus on the areas of the subject she needed help with, and she is now much more confident. I would recommend Jane as a one on one tutor, she took the time to understand exactly what my daughter needed - Thanks Jane!
Jane is very reliable and responsive - she has a great rapport with my daughter and always provides me with feedback about her progress and sends on supporting material. This is much appreciated - I highly recommend Jane

Success is not an accident; it is the result of intelligent effort. As a Maths teacher, I often meet people who start off worried about the subject. It is always encouraging to see them increase in confidence and even start to enjoy it. After all Maths is easy and Maths is fun! I feel I have the correct balance between friendly, approachable teaching and focused, clear explanation that produces the best results; working on both examples and core understanding.

I would definitely recommend him to anyone in need of a maths tutor.
