Approach to Teaching

"I am a fully qualified Mathematics teacher with QTS. I graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh in 1995 with a Mathematics degree and from the University of Chester in 2011 with a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics. During my PGCE I taught at 3 different schools within Cheshire, gaining considerable experience and knowledge in KS3, KS4 & KS5. I was also lucky enough to tutor small group classes for gifted and talented pupils pushing their limits and practicing modern teaching techniques. I also gained experience teaching SEN pupils with varied learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Dyscalculia. Since graduating I have enjoyed tutoring small groups and individual pupils helping them develop, learn and apply new skills in Mathematics. I have also been lucky enough to tutor a wider range of abilities from KS2 to KS5. I believe my success comes from a keen interest in the study of how we learn Mathematics, my own love of the subject as well as a good student teacher relationship which is key to a successful and enriched learning environment. I am certain with commitment and hard work my students will be successful which will be apparent in their exam results."
