Approach to Teaching

"I have worked as a tutor in Derby, visiting students at their homes. The majority of my tutees were school pupils, many of whom did not particularly enjoy maths at school. I tried to make the time I had with them interesting, by playing games and making them do things, such as letting them measure the diameter and circumference of various sizes of tins, so the value of pi could be discovered. I also helped some pupils prepare for their GCSE exams. This required a more academic approach e.g. looking at past exam papers and discussing exam technique. "
