Approach to Teaching

"Hi my name is James, I am 26 years old and currently studying for a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. I am a very passionate and enthusiastic teacher. I am offering one to one classes for secondary and undergraduates level. I have been tutoring for about 2 years, as part of the teaching staff at the engineering department helping undergraduate students to unlock their potential and gain greater insights on the subject. I am able to simplify complex problems and explain it to students in ways they can understand, building up their confidence and helping them gain the knowledge they need to succeed. I have been tutoring maths and chemical engineering modules to students at varying levels from first year to Masters level. Prior to my time at the University of Edinburgh, I was a tutor and mentor to a group of 15 first year students at the Chemical engineering department at University college London covering Maths, Chemistry, Physics and other chemical engineering modules My tutorials are very engaging and highly stimulating for students and I have real life experience of using Maths and science in industry so I can make the topic fun and seem worthwhile."
