Approach to Teaching
"I am a committed, enthusiastic and friendly tutor/mentor with 30 years of teaching experience and up to date knowledge of teaching methods. Since graduating from the University or Reading in 1992, I have taught in a variety of Norfolk & Suffolk schools - both primary and secondary (including an American school here in the U.K.). I have a proven track record of improving pupil achievement in maths and am able to offer tailor-made tuition to meet individual pupil needs - whether the student is struggling to keep up at school, developing confidence or preparing for exams. I have a great deal of experience in supporting students with dyscalculia. I am committed to professional development and participate in relevant courses to enhance my own teaching, as well as regularly networking with committed tutors in Norfolk and Suffolk in addition to the rest of the UK. I run a small but growing tuition business, Discovery Tutors, and now have a team of tutors working alongside me, who cover other subject areas, all of whom receive regular training, hold enhanced DBS checks and have undergone child protection training. We offer in-person tuition at Palgrave Community Centre on Thursdays, as well as online tuition. We have been successfully tutoring online since 2014."Hourly Charges

Diane has provided us with these testimonials:"I just thought Id drop you a line to say that at the beginning of this school year (8) C was moved up to set 2 & at parents evening. In October I was told she was doing better than some students who were already in set 2. We got a report yesterday and her target grade for the end of this school year is 5b & she is currently a 5a ! This is all down to you giving her the confidence back with numbers & her self-belief that had been ignored at primary. Cant recommend or thank you enough." LL, March 2015 |
"Enormous thanks for boosting Ss confidence and skill so quickly. He was able to take this last week (SATs) in his stride, with a smile on his face and complete faith in his ability to do a good job. Hes very happy and so am I!" RC, May 2016 |
Diane helped my ten year old Dyslexic son with prep on entrance exams. He really enjoyed working with her, and never complained about going. She systematically went through different areas with him, and identified areas of weakness. The tutoring worked really well, and I would highly recommend her. SD January 2017 |
"I couldnt recommend Di more highly. When my daughter first met Di, her words to her new tutor were, "Im rubbish at maths";she had no self confidence whatsoever, which was a major concern for both her and ourselves. She was in the first "Guinea Pig" year of the updated SATs, with little time to adjust.I was so shocked that my daughter didnt know really basic things and they had methods of solving problems that left me cold. Not what I was used to. Today, after spending time with Di, my daughter is confident, passed her SATs with flying colours and has adjusted to High School maths remarkably. I think she may even enjoy it! Di covers both Key Stage 2 and at least up to GCSE. She can do both face to face and online and is fantastic with unconfident children. What a Superstar with a capital S. " JW February 2017 |
"I am so pleased that I was able to achieve A* in my maths GCSE (legacy paper) after only a year of study. Im so glad I put in the extra work. I couldnt have done it without your help"! JG August 2017 |
