Approach to Teaching

"I've worked as an Investment Analyst at a Wealth Management firm since graduating from Cardiff University with a high 2:1 in Physics in 2014. My entire academic and professional careers have been based around numbers and logic, giving me a wealth of experiences to draw upon when explaining mathematical or physical concepts. Having been tutoring GCSE and A Level Maths and Physics for four years, I have seen pupils grow enormously in their confidence and ability. As a tutor, I feel it is important to connect on a personal level as well as an intellectual level to get the most out of lessons. Each student is different and I enjoy finding new ways of explaining mathematical and physical concepts; the satisfaction for both parties when a concept ‘clicks’ is very fulfilling. One pupil improved by a grade in his GCSE Maths and Physics resits during an intensive 3 week tutoring course. Another gained fantastic grades in her AS Level Maths modules this year having been in a lower set at GCSE where A grade maths was not taught. As a person, I enjoy rock climbing, scuba diving, philosophy and playing the piano. I moved to Stokes Croft in June 2014 from a small village on the boarder and love Bristol’s atmosphere."
