Approach to Teaching

"I am a dedicated mathematics teacher and well versed with the curriculum and knowledge of both KS3 and KS4, this has been supported by 95% of my students achieving their targets or exceeding. I am a determined, enthusiastic, and highly motivated teacher. I want students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an atmosphere that is stimulating and adaptive to their diverse needs. During my teaching period, I have focused on instilling in my students a love of learning, as well as teaching them to be responsible and involved citizens of a democratic society. As a result of my current and previous positions; I have become flexible in my teaching, while perfecting high organizational standards and skills. These skills have aided me in providing a strong curriculum for my students. I strongly feel that a good lesson should be well differentiated, formative assessment used throughout the lesson and provide avenues for students / teacher feedback. I strongly believe in the strengths of problem-based learning, especially in a field such as mathematics, continually try to involve the learner in every activity through active learning techniques, as opposed to having a strictly teacher-based class."
