Approach to Teaching

"I hold a PGCE and have QTS status, having taught in secondary school. Over the years I have tutored Mathematics. I hold professional qualifications in Project Management and my general day-to-day work involves managing IT-related projects in industry. I took some time out of work and undertook a PGCE in Mathematics in 2004. I taught in a highly challenging demographic inner-city school for several years where I excelled by over-achieving GCSE Mathematics grades for low-attaining pupils. During several observations whilst at school, I received good-to-outstanding OFSTED level observations. I am currently tutoring around London and can travel further than 10 miles. Please email to ask for specific details. I do prefer one-to-one tutoring but can also teach to larger groups. I take pride in understanding the individual needs of the learner and thus devise ways to best improve their wider perspective in the subject being taught, mostly Mathematics. In all my time teaching, I have always tried to address the misconceptions that may be prevalent in students, giving emphasis to show where Mathematics is used in almost everything involved in our lives. This helps to bring some added motivation and focus in overcoming any mental challenges that may be prevalent in the learner. I have now uploaded my DBS certificate. As a side interest, I ski, and have been on ski trips with schools. I also organise large-group ski trips from time-to-time."
