Approach to Teaching

"I have obtained my Research Degree (PhD) at Birkbeck University of London (Department of Biological Sciences) and UCL (Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology). Besides my PhD I also hold an MSc in Analytical Chemistry and a BSc in Biochemical Sciences both awarded by the same universities. I worked as laboratory Demonstrator, Research Assistant and currently I work as a Science Tutor. As you will note, my teaching style is direct and decisive, yet flexible and friendly. I feel creativity and variety are excellent strategies to help grab and hold students’ attention for increased participation in classroom activities. Throughout my academic and teaching career I have had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of scientific subjects: Chemistry (General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Spectroscopy), Biology (Chemical Biology, Advanced Molecular Biology and Medicinal Chemistry), Mathematics and Physics for chemists and biologists. I foster an exciting and engaging learning environment by utilizing different teaching techniques which include real life experiments which help consolidate the core topics and concepts as well as integrating various forms of technology and discussions at the end of the teaching session. Having worked with students of different backgrounds and walks of life, one of my greatest strengths is evaluating and meeting the students’ needs by providing pastoral support and allowing students to get familiar and comfortable with the way I teach.
