Approach to Teaching

"My background in maths is evident in my qualifications: I have just graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA (Hons) in Economics and Management. Note that my modules included: Economics (Micro and Macro); Quantitative Economics (a statistics based paper); Accountancy; Finance; Strategy; Organizational Behaviour; and, Marketing. This should indicate my capabilities to teach subjects such as Accountancy and Business Studies. I achieved an A* in Maths at A Level (as well as A*s in Economics and History). I achieved an A* in Maths GCSE and year early and proceeded to obtain a top-grade, A, in an Additional Maths qualification. Importantly, for a tutor, my ability to explain information coherently is illustrated by a number of achievements and work experiences: I have just undertaken an internship with an actuarial firm. This is a profession known for both a high level of complicated maths and an emphasis on being able to simplify complex concepts and information. I helped out at Beacon Hill school once a week during terms time for a year and half during my years 10 and 11. I was involved in the cooking department and the PE department and, despite lacking in maths, this helped me develop my skills in talking to children in an educational context."
