Approach to Teaching

"Being an outstanding tutor is about so much more than simply having a sound knowledge of your chosen subject. It's about knowing the syllabus inside out, knowing how topics are presented in exams, but most importantly knowing you're student. To ensure exceptional student progress a tutor must quickly assess the level of the student and how best to develop. Knowing a number of different approaches to delivering a topic is vital, as well is managing to instil a confidence and love for your subject in every student you teach. My credentials: • Fully qualified maths teacher since 2012, specialising in GCSE and A Level mathematics. • Head of Mathematics department since 2014, responsible for the academic success of hundreds of students. • Education consultant since 2014, working in a number of schools across the country offering intervention for GCSE classes. • Edexcel GCE examiner since 2016, extensive knowledge of the Core Maths mark schemes to grade student's exams. With my teaching background I have an extensive knowledge of GCSE and A Level mathematics and a proven track record in helping students achieve their desired grades, I would certainly consider myself to be an outstanding tutor."

Student 2303870: "Very Poor. I did not even bother to see Mr who casually increased his hourly rate by almost a third from £35 to £45 before we'd even met. When I pointed this out to him, he told me: "He hadn't gotten around to updating his profile." I became understandably annoyed, explaining that was hardly my fault and he was wasting my time, he became irritated saying: "If I'd been more reasonable, most tutors are happy to negotiate their rates." This is despite the fact his profile states he does not offer discounts. "
