Approach to Teaching
"I have been teaching and tutoring maths, science and related subjects at all levels for a number of years. Recently I taught at the high achieving Trinity School where the average exam mark of pupils in my class was more than 80%. This was followed by work at the cosmopolitan inner city Harris Academy in South Norwood giving me wide experience of different classes. My previous work has varied from part-time lecturing at university to one-to-one tuition of school pupils. Much of my tuition is centred on helping students during GCSE and A-level courses. I have also taught maths and other core subjects in school classes, both face-to-face and online, taught in college, helped adults with their maths for vocational courses or psychometric testing as well as teaching English to foreigners. In addition, my passion for this work lead me to several voluntary roles such as teaching in Kenya, assisting the numeracy of pupils with learning difficulties and helping people in the library with their learning problems. While tutoring I have been frequently praised by parents and pupils alike for the strong rapport formed, the enthusiasm and interest I give to the learners and for leading people to excel beyond expectations. On several occasions pupils with an expected low D achieved a high B after just a few sessions tuition. I have also been praised for the depth and breadth of my knowledge, which is not surprising as I have a prestigious university degree in mathematics with physics and related PhD.
