Approach to Teaching

"I am a qualified teacher who started teaching Maths in 1970 and became Head of the Maths Department. I have also worked at Solihull College, mainly with adults. I have considerable experience of teaching and assessing school-age students and adult learners in colleges and the workplace. I retired from Solihull in 2010 and have since been working part-time at a local Outstanding Specialist Maths and Computer Science secondary school as a one-to-one maths tutor in Key Stage 3 and 4 - up to Year 11 GCSE Higher and Foundation courses. I have worked for Bham Adult Education Service teaching computer courses and supporting adults studying GCSE Maths courses.I joined MathsTutors4Me last year, teaching students in the 11 to 16 age range up to GCSE level mainly on Edexcel and AQA GCSE courses. I am able to visit students in the Birmingham area, or students can come to my home where I have a well-equipped study, complete with text books and computer. I supplement my lessons with the interactive My Maths computer program at home which is a very comprehensive teaching aid."
